Trip pace

Via Tunco Route is a 13-day route focused on Antigua, Pacaya Volcano, Lake Atitlan, Panajachel, Chichicastenango, El Tunco, Leon.
Expect several travel days between regions; keep luggage light and allow flexibility for road, weather and local operating conditions.
This route includes international or border-linked travel through El Salvador, San Jose, Liberia, so document checks can affect timing.

What to bring

Pack comfortable walking shoes, rain jacket, sun protection, light jacket for boat rides, plus dry bag or plastic pouch, swimwear, sandals, reef-safe sunscreen.
Use a small day bag for Pacaya Volcano, Pacaya, Cerro Negro, Lake Atitlan.
